Hi, I’m Tristan. I run a YouTube channel called SUV RVing. I travel around the western United States and go on adventures in the mountains and desert, all while using my little SUV (a 2011 Toyota RAV4) as a mini camper.

SUVs are an excellent choice for those who require extra space, comfort, and versatility. Ford Expedition, Chevy Suburban, and Nissan Armada are three popular options that can easily be transformed into comfortable sleeping spaces during road trips.
This is by far our favorite way of sleeping in a vehicle. Laying the back seat down and sleeping from the back seat into the trunk. You may think about this way of sleeping on an SUV vehicle, but also works on any car that has direct access to the trunk.
While sleeping in the car isn't the easiest way to get some rest, you'll have a much easier time of it if you can lean back a little. Try to head up to the front seat and lean back as much as possible. If you can't recline, use a pillow to cushion your head and lean against the window.
Smaller compact SUVs can work, but most adults will find they don't offer enough room to stretch out. A larger mid-size three-row SUV such as a Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, or Subaru Ascent will be even better.
Breathing all night in a vehicle will fog up windows and collect moisture where you don't want it. Ventilation is key. Open your sunroof or a window just wide enough so that an animal or person can't get in.
If you want to stay completely dry while camping in the rain, a vehicle might be your best bet. In addition to rain and wind protection, it offers insulation that will keep you warmer on cooler nights or during winter camping trips.
So the next time you think of sleeping in your car, think again. If you are tired, you may want to consider checking into a hotel. But if you really need to nap in your car, find a safe area, turn off the engine and roll down the windows slightly to ensure the cabin is well ventilated.
Rest stops and welcome centers serve as safe areas for travelers to take a break and rest from driving. Many people use these centers and parking facilities to take short naps and prevent drowsy driving. Some states offer parking overnight at these facilities, while other states may limit the time a person can park.
Bring some extra blankets or a sleeping bag to wrap yourself around with. Recline the front seat so you can lie down like you usually would when sleeping in a bed. Alternatively, you can curl up in the back seat, which may not be so different from sleeping on a couch.
